How does a solar system work?
Solar systems use multiple components that convert sunlight into energy for your home. This energy will power lights, devices, appliances, and more. Solar Panels use photovoltaic cells that convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity. Anytime the sun is coming in contact with these panels, the light will be converted into electricity. On cloudier days, panels can still be expected to convert some of the sunlight into energy. The Inverter turns the DC electricity into Alternating Current (AC) electricity, which is what homes use across all lights and receptacles. The Main Electrical Panel is where all of the AC electricity is delivered. This electricity replaces the grid power, and will flow through all of the circuits across your home. Utility Meters are the electricity meters that your power company uses to determine your usage. Any excess power that your solar panels create is sent back out through this meter, which credits your electric bill every month. |
Am I eligible for solar?
A few factors can determine whether or not solar is fit for your home. Do you own your home? What direction does your roof face? How old are your shingles? Is your monthly electric bill more than $75? If you answered YES to these questions, you will most likely be eligible to install a solar system on your home. How large of a system will I need? The size of your solar system will vary based off of your annual usage and the amount of available roof/ground space. What if something goes wrong with my system? All installations come with full warranties, theft and damage protection, and monitoring to make sure everything works the way it should. What if I move? If you decide to sell your home, you have a few different options. Some of which include transferring the system to your home, or transferring the ownership of the existing system. How long does an installation take?
Most solar system installations are able to be completed in one day. In order for the installation to be completed, crews will need to prepare your project so everything is approved and finalized on installation day. Installers will need to inspect your attic, main electrical panel, and roof prior to installing. SunMark and our installers will obtain all of the necessary permits to complete the installation. |
